Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office
Although Whitewater Township does not have an assigned Community Police Officer (CPO) contract with the GTSO, they are still the primary law enforcement agency for Whitewater Township.
Michigan State Police
Michigan State Police also provides police protection to Whitewater Township working out of the Traverse City Post. Post 75 covers Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Benzie Counties and is located in the Seventh District.
Michigan Conservation Officer
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) employs Conservation Officers (CO) to enforce natural resource law and regulation. Because nearly half of Whitewater Township is designated State Recreation land and open water, the township tends to have a regular presence of Conservation Officers.

Grand Traverse County Emergency Management: Another public safety ally for Grand Traverse County is the office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. The office of Emergency Management assists local first responders with large scale emergency preparedness and mitigation as well as provides a link for State and Federal resources.
